The imperfect use of 'Imperfect'
Updated: 7 hours ago
Imperfection or considering yourself imperfect is kind of absurd.
It is often used to imply your flaws, your misgivings, mistakes errs and graces are all acceptable. It is aimed at helping you fully accept all of you, empowering you in some way, the concept of which, in and of itself, is great.
The downfall in using the term 'imperfect' however is two-fold.
One, it still implies there's some kind of perfect out there, beyond you.
Two, using the term imperfect to describe yourself gives you a false sense of being real and authentic.
Because. If you refer to yourself as being imperfect, your seen as accepting your flaws and openly acknowledging you're not perfect. Great, yet rare, virtues of being a 'real' or 'genuine' person
But the fact is, its far removed from being authentic and real if you haven't actually faced or uncovered all of you, or continually doing so.
It just gives you another set of ideals or labels to identify with, which your ego absolutely loves because your ego would much rather cling to an ideal than to face and truly accept your deepest truths. That is the nature of your Ego, self-preservation and sometimes through re-identification.
It doesn't want you exploring the realms of everything you've spent years suppressing and repressing or hiding from, it wants to preserve the image it has of itself. It wants to present as if it is healing or changing without actually healing or changing.

Using 'imperfect' to describe yourself keeps you stuck looking through a glass ceiling, it evokes no growth or change that would otherwise move you into closer alignment with who you really are, beyond any notions your ego can come up with or attach to.
The most authentic and real you is the one that has literally confronted and processed every pain, every hurt, every part of you left unloved, unaccepted, shamed or hidden.
The fullest version of you comes about when the lesser version of yourself, the ego centric version, is no longer supported by avoiding the truths within you or using new age labels that help you feel all comfortable and bonded again.
True freedom comes with hard work, digging deep into all the supposed imperfections and instilling real change towards the truth of who you really are beyond your Ego.
And when you have reached or come into proximity of your true nature you're no longer comforted by labels of being imperfect or regarding yourself in any such way.
You have true appreciation for the human experience, you understand that all matters of good bad or indifferent are part of your purpose in being here, you're grounded, complete and sure footed about what life has on offer for you.
A very stark difference to remaining within the realm of being 'imperfect'
