Your Self Worth vs Your Value

We all have intrinsic value, but we rarely connect with it or feel it fully within ourselves and its certainly not something we learn about. We are generally more inclined to understand the concepts of confidence or self-esteem, which are precursors of feeling the fullness of your own value.

You may even be able to relate to self-worth a little more readily than your own value

But Self-worth as it's been shaped through my experience, varies to how we value ourselves.

They are related but they are separate.

Self-worth is part of a much deeper sense of self and the fullness of being content as you. Value, is recognising how valuable you are to the people around you and the world more broadly.

Self-worth is connected to what you know and feel you deserve in life; what you know and feel you are capable of. There's a sureness to it.

It inspires self-respect, moving for what you know is right for you, it inspires confidence and self esteem and broadly, it inspires action towards what you know you rightfully deserve and can receive.

Your level of self-worth shows how grounded you are in being you or the extent in which you adjust who you are to suit the ideals of others or circumstances you find yourself in. Strong self-worth emanates from place of being truly grounded, it's very empowering and devoid of ego which is an important distinction.

The egos fuel is fear, a little maniacal, searching in superficial places for fulfilment but never reaching that ever elusive feeling.

Mistakenly, people often associate worth with more superficial benchmarks such as their appearance, who they associate with, what type of career they have, what they have achieved and of course the level of monetary value the have.

Strong self-worth however knows no fear and doesn't seek fulfilment in material gain because you know your worth, inherently and no amount of material gain is needed to fill a void in your self-worth. Strong self-worth brings the fulfilment and from that place, material gain becomes more fruitful.

Value on the other hand, is recognition of and feeling, fully, your value within the world around you.

It is recognising and feeling that you are an incredible contribution to the world simply for being you, not because of what you do.

With a deeps sense of your own value, you are not separate from anything or anyone, you are not competing with others or the world in general, you instead feel that you are part of what makes the world the place that it is, that you simply being you is in and of itself an incredibly valuable contribution to life and all who come in contact with you.

Its feeling that you are incredibly valuable to your loved ones, friends and colleagues or peers. Recognition of and feeling they need you, love you, that being you, fills something within them and their lives. You feel the value of the roles you serve in people's lives.

No longer conforming to standards

I long held a belief that everything must be measured, considered and weighed up before anything is done about it. Yet even then, I may well talk myself out of it for fear of getting it wrong, for fea

Can a prayer really change it all?

I heard this prayer as a line from a character in a movie I was watching. He said it during an extremely testing time in his life and it sparked a train of thought for me. The context in which he used
